Recording pack licence
This is the licence for the raw air traffic control recording packs I sell on Bandcamp. I wrote it in plain words on purpose. If something here is unclear, ask me before you build on it.
What you get
When you buy a pack, you get a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use the recordings in your own work. That covers music, games, flight sims, film and video, podcasts, apps, installations, and anything else you make, whether you sell it or give it away. Sync is included, so you don't need a separate deal to put the audio under picture. You can cut, process, layer, pitch, and mangle the recordings however you like. One purchase covers you, or your company for its own projects, with no per-project fees and no reporting.
What you can't do
- Redistribute the recordings on their own. No reselling or giving them away as a pack, library, loop set, sample collection, sound-effects bundle, or dataset, and no including them in a product where the recording itself is the point (a "real ATC" add-on, for example). Re-cutting, renaming, or lightly processing them doesn't change this.
- Present them as your own field recordings. Use them in your work all you like, but don't claim you recorded them.
- Pass the licence on. It's for you. If a client or collaborator wants to use the raw files in their own separate projects, they need their own copy.
Credit
Credit is appreciated and never required. If you'd like to, "ATC recordings by Final Approach Radio (finalapproach.fm)" is perfect.
Where the recordings come from
These are my own off-air recordings, made on an airband receiver from public ground at each airport. They are not LiveATC streams or archives, which belong to LiveATC and come with their own rules. The controllers you hear are US federal employees speaking on public frequencies. The recordings are sold as they are: I clean and organise them, but I can't guarantee any particular transmission is usable for any particular purpose, and you're responsible for how you use them where you live. Some countries restrict rebroadcasting air traffic control audio, so check before you ship something there.
Questions
Ask on Instagram. If you want to do something this licence doesn't cover, I'm easy to talk to.
