The recording
This recording comes from the public viewing area on Palatine Frontage Road in Wheeling, the first of three Chicago airports I recorded on August 3, 2026. I got there around 9:45 in the morning, and for the first few minutes I had no audio at all because the radio software was sending sound to an output that no longer existed. Once that was sorted, the tower frequency turned out to be the cleanest channel of the whole day, and I stayed until about noon. Runway 16 was in use the entire time, so most of what you'll hear is the tower working Cessnas around the pattern and clearing business jets out to Chicago departure.
